Avebury henge and stone circles are among prehistoric Britain’s greatest marvels. Built and altered during the Neolithic period (c. 2850–2200 BC), the massive circular bank and ditch enclose part of Avebury village. Inside lies Britain’s largest stone circle, originally with around 100 stones, surrounding two smaller circles.
